Ranting Rules

What You Can and Can’t Say in Your Rants

We love to rant and want you to rant too, but we do have a few rules to help maintain the quality of this website. Please take some time to read through these rules before submitting a rant.

Ranting Rule 1: All submissions must be a RANT, no holding back, we want full blown rants! You rant must be genuine complaint about a person, place, event, object, website, organisation, idea, practice, life in general. If it is not a rant with enough venom it will not be posted!!!

Ranting Rule 2: We like to rant but we do not like bullying. We don’t mind people commenting in rant form on other peoples rants, we don’t even mind a rant comment slagging off another rant BUT we will not tolerate ranting aimed at another ranter in the form of bullying.

Ranting Rule 3: Be careful about using brand names, real peoples names, ot names of organisations. We don’t want to be sued! This applies to both posts and comments and if we see anything which could be deemed liable we will either change or remove the whole comment or post without warning. If you do not want your post/comment changing or removing then its best to disguise your rant. For example, if you are ranting about Asda supermarkets, then rather than using the full name, disguise it something like : "the large supermarket chain beginning with the letter A".

Ranting Rule 4: We prefer it if posts are kept to less than 2000 words where possible. Longer posts may be published by I-Need-A-Rant.co.uk’s discretion, but we may or may not trim the post before publishing.

Ranting Rule 5: Keep it clean. It is possible to rant without using foul language. Our website will automatically asterisk swear words in posts, however some will slip through the net! We don’t mind swear words if they are necessary but would prefer it if you asterisk swear words, but please keep it clean and remember that everyone can be your audience, even children. We won’t publish bad language unless there’s a good reason for it, we may sensor your post if necessary.

Ranting Rule 6: We will not publish messages of hate, prejudice, racism, sexism or any other kind of ‘ism’ you can think of. So don’t bother sending them to us.

Ranting Rule 7: When submitting your article, please let us know whether you’d like to remain anonymous, or be credited. If you’d like to be credited for your work, please include a short bio and a link to your website or blog (if you’d like us to include it). There are fields on the rant submission form for these details.

Please Note:

  • We may edit your work to correct glaring spelling or grammatical errors. Then again, we may not, so please use a spellcheck before hitting “send”.
  • Publication is at our discretion. If we decide not to publish your submission, we reserve the right not to enter into discussion with you about this decision.
